CPU goes up after switching models a few times, and a reload fixes it

@nightshiftmix · · 1mo

Anyone else seeing this? Load a model, play, switch to another, switch again — after a dozen or so the CPU meter is noticeably higher than when the project opened, with the same single instance loaded. Saving and reopening the project puts it back. There are at least two issues describing the same thing, so it is not just me. There is also a genuinely odd result in there where a smaller model runs slower than a larger one at some buffer sizes, which the author suspects is about SIMD alignment rather than the amount of arithmetic. Not a complaint — it is a free MIT-licensed plugin and the person writing it is publishing his own benchmarks. Just worth knowing so you do not spend an afternoon blaming your interface.

    Seeing the same thing. Not enough to stop me working — reopening the project fixes it — but enough that I noticed. Worth saying the obvious: this is a free plugin under a permissive licence, being benchmarked in public by the person who wrote it. That is a better position than most paid software is in.
